2024 Day on the Hill

GMSD Day on the Hill 2024 - On Wednesday, March 27th, the GMC PTO hosted the annual trip to visit the capitol building in Nashville. Students who participated began their day with meeting Governor Bill Lee and posing for a photo, then onto a mock session in the House chambers, where they also had the opportunity to hear from Representative Mark White. We then were led on a tour of the capitol building, followed by lunch in the Legislative Lounge. A highlight of the trip was sitting in on the Education Committee Meeting and listening to real issues currently being discussed in TN legislature. The visit was wrapped up with a quick visit to the Tennessee Archives. GMC PTO is honored to be able to offer this opportunity to GMSD students in grades 6-12 each year and we are always impressed with how well students represent our district. We appreciate our adult chaperones, too, including GMSD School Board Members Angela Griffith and Ryan Strain and teachers from both Riverdale and Houston Middle Schools. Special thanks to Terry Rogers, GMC PTO Legislative Chair and each of the Legislative Chairpersons at each of our GMSD PTOs who worked together to make this day happen. |

The Germantown Municipal Council PTO is proud to sponsor our annual Art and Writing Contest. The theme for the 2023-2024 contest was GMSD In Focus:Taking a Closer Look. Students were challenged to use their imaginations to create art and writings to show us what this theme means to them.
